Ajahn Mudito was born in a remote village in northern Finland. After completing his military service, he moved to the United States, where he attended culinary school and worked for several years as a chef in exclusive hotels in New York. His long-standing interest in Buddhism evolved as he began practicing meditation with various groups in America. He sought his path with many teachers, but those he encountered seemed either too aloof or too dull.
At one point, fortune smiled upon him when Ajahn Brahm came to New York on a promotional tour for his book Opening the Door of Your Heart. Enchanted by Ajahn Brahm and his simple teachings, he began to follow him and his guidance. In 2010, he moved to Bodhinyana Monastery, where he was ordained as a monk two years later.
